About

Our Story

Founded in 1990, the In Country Vietnam Veterans began as a gathering of combat veterans with a mission to create a more service-oriented and fun-focused alternative to traditional veteran organizations. We are not affiliated with the Vietnam Veterans of America, but rather operate independently as a community-driven group.

Donation to the Jefferson Historical societyOver time, our membership grew to include all honorably discharged veterans, welcoming those who share in our dedication to service, camaraderie, and community support. Our origins are deeply rooted in local institutions such as Army Navy Unions (AMUs), the Eagles Club, and other veterans’ clubs that remain part of our legacy.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we rely on the generosity of donors and volunteers. Every donation received goes directly back into local causes—supporting veterans in need, law enforcement, and military families. We pride ourselves on being a veterans group that gives back.

The organization is run entirely by veterans, for veterans. Whether it’s organizing community breakfasts or hosting appreciation events, we believe in strengthening the bond between veterans and the communities they’ve protected.

We remain the only known national chapter of our kind, focused on local veterans groups and community service in Ashtabula County and across Northeast Ohio.
